I was inspired to making the Arthur Friedenreich Library when watching a TV documentary, which featured a short introduction to the life and career of the brazilian footballer Arthur Friedenreich (1892-1969).
Friedenreich is widely recognised as football's first super star and earned himself flattering nicknames such as The Tiger and The Golden Foot.
Furthermore, I was inspired by the work of my friend Steen Ammentorp, who has created an extensive database on World War II generals named Generals.dk. My admiration of his work has played an important part in my decision to take on the project of creating Arthur Friedenreich Library.
The project attempts to create a bibliographical database, which covers the life and career of Arthur Friedenreich.
However, taking into account the scope of the project, the information on each bibliographical entry will vary in detail. Some sources have only been identified by URL with out indication of the original source, while others are listed with full bibliographical data. I am engaged in the quest of accessing further information on Arthur Friedenreich and as a result there will be continual updates.

Bibliographical Standards
Web resources
The bibliographical standard used for web resources originates from the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative from where I have taken the elements used in the bibliographical entries.
Non-Web Resources
For non-web resources elements from the International Standard Bibliographical Description (ISBD) are used, yet I have decided to use the same tables that are used for web resources to support uniformity and better overview.
